A medium shrub, used for farmstead and field windbreaks. Suckers profusely which limits its use. Very attractive silvery-green foliage, tolerant to drought and high pH sites. Dense thickets provide cover to many wildlife species. Prefers subsoil moisture. Yellow flowers produce a silvery colored fruit in the fall.
